Weekly Derrick Jasper update: It's UNLV

Word broke Monday that former Paso Robles High standout Derrick Jasper has committed to transfer to UNLV.

I talked to Jasper today. You can read all about it in the Tuesday edition of The Tribune. But I wanted to give blog readers an early shot at responding to the news.

So have at it. He didn't visit any other schools. In the end, UCLA and Cal Poly, the two winners of our informal blog poll, didn't seem to have much of a chance. Here's your chance to debate or support Derrick's decision.

Or have at our choices for baseball and softball players of the year or the All-County team, which came out on Sunday.

It won't be long before this blog takes a little bit of a hiatus for the summer. We've got Jordan Hasay and the Olympic Trials to talk about, but things will get kind of quiet leading up to football season.

In a small piece of slocohighschoolsportsblog news: The blog is expected to get a new address before the fall and stay tuned for another major announcement.

Are one of the two people in the newsroom getting laid off at the end of the month in the sports department?

what do u think about mcps ad kicking out silvera as football coach?

pretty shiesty in my opinion
Locke wanted to be football coach when he first came, but had to take his time to find his way into it and i guess he has...
just like he magically became the girls head/assistant coach or what ever this year.
mcp should take the same rule just like SLOHS... AD cant be head coach of a team.... keep the 2 apart

well thats the rule they started once they kicked mott out. but u know what, that's mission prep for ya

I love my school. Mission Prep goes out into the world and creates leaders. They have committed no violations of any kind. They are the kindest most generous kids you are ever going to meet. I think everybody should get over themselves and talk about someting besides Mott, Mott did nothing wrong. I love MP!!!

You guys thought I was serious...I'm just playing, I agree with the others "yawwnnnnnn".

Haha that was scary ^. Thought you were serious. 'Cause all of that information is totally opposite of what it is.

Yyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnnn

I'm happy to debate on the all county softball team... how did you go about making that? I figured you didn't know softball existed since you barely cover it. Oh wait and not much else in girls sports either. Shame you missed a great year. And missed the mark on some of the all county picks. Catch some softball next year the games are pretty quick and painless you might actually like to watch it by the time CIF comes around! And apparently we have some local talent to watch Lindsay Campana and Katie Burkhart both made ESPN appearances this spring during the tournament. Kat Hicks, Michelle Moses and Jill McClelland and not to mention all the other girls that have signed on to play college ball next year had great seasons. It's a shame your readers didn't get to see and hear more about them.

So how do players picked
2nd or 3rd at their position in their league end up 1st team all county??
Does Scroggy know more than the coaches?

Anonymous said...

Ha he can't no more than the coaches! You would have to attend a game or write and article to have knowledge about what is hapening on the field!!!
