Leftovers from the year in sports

Since I'm going to be shifting over to another blog on another beat, I thought I'd empty my cache on this one.

The past year has brought some great behind the scenes sights and sounds. Here are a couple I didn't share from San Luis Obispo High.

Here's Tigers boys tennis singles player Charlie Fox's team picture. That team had a lot of seniors a lot of success and — as you can see — a lot of fun. It will be interesting to see how they do next year.

Going all the way back to football season, here's a shot of linebacker Nate Egan and his smashed up nose. I remember writing about it in a story, but the photo was kept hidden... until now!

And here is a pretty cool music video, my last on the prep beat, from behind the scenes at the Baseball/Softball Players of the Year photoshoot at Paso Robles High. Michelle Moses, John Brehm and photographer Joe Johnson star.

Paso Players of the Year: Photo Shoot

Apologies to John for the lyrics. It's the only photo shoot song I know. For those interested, the artist is Embassy Music Board and the song is aptly titled Pose. You can download it for free HERE.

That's Nate alright. I heard he's playing at Hancock with Jason Fitzsimmons and Sean Dubois. Also saw Kai Sanpei at practice. Any other SLO county players at Hancock this fall?

Hey Erick (funny way to spell Eric or Erik, but anyhow . . .) Just a little early feedback: Sports pages are read by males. SLO is populated mostly by Americans. This means most of your readers are American males; therefore there is not a lot of intense concern for soccer, water polo, girl's diving, tennis or badmitten. Give us more Football. Basketball. Baseball. And maybe some more in-depth stories about the local stars in these sports and not how a goalie overcame toenail fungus to lead the league in saves.

I 2nd that. Football keeps our attention. Baseball and basketball are close behind and valid. Why not follow those county football players at Hancock just once this summer. Call head coach Dutra and ask him how they are doing. The cal poly blog will take care of Logan Budd news if there is any.

Draper is at Hancock also. Looks like competition at QB. Kai Sanpei is at Nose tackle, Nate Egan at Fullback, Jason Fitzsimmons at Outside Linebacker and Sean Dubios at Tight End.

There has to be more County players. Hancock hasn't published the 2008 roster yet.

I also think Michael Irving and Brian Hughes are still there for their 2nd year.

Know who else reads sports pages? Parents of players. If you don't give a sport enough play on the sports pages, you'll hear about it from some angry parents. So will the editor and the publisher.

Hopefully back this year at Hancock is Michael Trujillo
and Aaron Zimmerman from the great Arroyo Grande High School. Actually the Bulldogs will represent SLO county High school players well this year. The 2008 roster is not ut yet but I'm sure slo county will have a lot great playeres on it.

thanks for stopping by our humble local blog. most people outside of our community have no idea what great high school athletes we have here. actually it makes sense that we would have top athletes. we have great weather with clean air and are an outdoor community. so we just send them to Hancock to play football and Hancock sends them off to 4 years schools with a scholarship after they play there. Hancock sent all but one of their 2007 football class on to scholarships.

Know who abroad reads sports pages? Parents of players. If you don't accord a action abundant comedy on the sports pages, you'll apprehend about it from some affronted parents. So will the editor and the publisher.Personal Trainer Network
